They soon realized this overlapped with their Hammerless Double Barrel shotgun serial numbers which had begun at 100000 back in late 1894, so they jumped Model 1889 hammer doubles serial numbers to 200000 and continued, and at the same time, they introduced the cheaper hammerless double in the K-grades (aka Model 1900) with their serial numbers starting at 300000. By 1900 the Model 1889 serial numbers had reached 100000 and for a while they just kept on numbering them. Remington & Sons Model 1885/1887 left off. (aka Model 1889) began its serial numbers from where the old E. in 1889 and their new Hammer Double Barrel Shotgun Remington & Sons went into receivership in the 1887/8 time frame, they reemerged as Remington Arms Co. ![]()
